Neil Coulson
A partner since 1990, Neil has been involved in the audit of a large number of Lloyd's syndicates, and acted as lead partner on marine, non-marine aviation, motor and life syndicates, with particular involvement in personal lines insurers and motor and household property syndicates. He is currently the audit partner for nine Lloyd's syndicates and a motor insurance company. Neil is also audit partner for six insurance intermediaries.
Neil is involved in due diligence work and reviews in connection with the acquisition of various managing agencies, syndicates and corporate members, and also audits a number of such companies. Neil has also assisted several insurers in assessing their risk management and governance systems, including in connection with Lloyd's, FSA and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
He has helped prepare business plans and financial models for the registration of a number of new syndicates and managing agents and corporate members, as well as for individual members of Lloyd's who are transferring their unlimited liability underwriting into a company. He also handles tax and other accountancy matters for a significant number of Lloyd's corporate and individual members.
Neil co-ordinates the firm's training and audit approach regarding Lloyd's syndicates and corporate vehicles, and has lectured on various accounting topics, including governance and risk management issues, in the UK, USA and Malaysia. Neil regularly writes on Lloyd's and insurance matters in the specialist insurance and accounting press.
